Polk Building Profile
Polk School serves 337 second and third grade students. There are 17 full time teaching staff members along with a physical education teacher, an art teacher, and a music teacher. Our media specialist is responsible for both the library and computer lab. In addition, the following support staff is available to assist students: school psychologist, school social worker, school counselor, speech and language therapist, paraprofessionals,and
homebound teacher. Polk also offers assistance to students with special needs, such as:

- Title I Services-Providing for Student Success
- Bilingual Services
- Homebound Services
- Behavior Groups
Assisting the school community in keeping the building operating in an organized fashion are the school secretary, custodians, lunchroom personnel and volunteers. The average daily attendance at Polk is 95%.
The following is a break down of our bell schedule for each day. Please emphasize with your child that they should not arrive at school before 8:10 a.m. The staff is involved in planning and meeting and is unable to provide supervision of students arriving earlier than necessary.
The school day begins at 8:15 with the first bell. At 8:20 a.m. the tardy bell rings and all children should be in their rooms, ready for class to begin. Students that arrive after the tardy bell must report to the office before going to class.

3:17 pm - dismissal
During the school year, if it is necessary to either dismiss school early or not have school because of bad weather, parents and students will be informed by the following stations: Channels 2, 4, and 7. If no announcement is made prior to 7:30, school will be in session as usual.
