Common Acronyms in Special Education

IEP -  Individualized Education Plan:  This meeting is held once a year and involves the parents,
         teachers, principal, and any other service staff that may work with the student on a
         regular basis.

ERM - Evaluation Review Meeting:  This meeting is held once every three years to obtain parent
          permission to do formal psychological testing on their child.  This meeting involves the
          parents, teachers, principal, and any other service staff that may work with the student.

MET - Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team:  This meeting is held once every three years, after the
         ERM, to update the students eligibility for Special Education services.  This meeting
         involves the parents, teachers, principal, school psychologist, teacher consultant, and any
         other service staff that may work with the student.
